Fat loss journeys are ones that in all honesty, require the absolute most patience. There are many factors that play a role in regards to the journey itself, however, the sticking point of the mental breaks are usually when someone sees a plateau.

First, what is a plateau? is it bad? or is it good? The short answer: it is completely dependent on the individual and their personal journey. A plateau simply means that there isn’t any movement occurring (good or bad) with the individual’s progress.

When someone hits a plateau, this is usually the ‘make it or break it’ point of their weight loss journey.  This is when they usually quit, or start doing endless amounts of cardio or just sit and drown their sorrows in pizza and wine and complain about how they just can’t do it.

The truth? Yes, you can do it. Anyone can do it. A plateau is a part of the process. The truth is the scale number may not ever move. You might gain weight first and then lose it. You might feel bloated some days (thus you are heavier). The truth is, your weight loss journey is YOURS. It is completely individual to YOU. There is no single person that is going to have the same exact journey and results as someone else.

So, what do you do?

You hold your vision, trust the process, and commit to each day. You grant yourself patience and grace. This is not a sprint, it is a marathon. The more that you can embrace the journey of your health, the healthier mindset you will develop. Understand that as long as you are consistent and patient, and stick the course, the results will come. You will hit your goal. You will move past your plateau.

The one thing you should not do is give up. You are worth much more than that 🙂
